I understand what you are saying, however the definition of service I was attempting to convey was more in line with the individual’s approach to delivering Technology services to their client regardless of the industry, not the term ’service’ as a business industry in, and of itself.

I understand it is a bit vague in nature, but your point is well stated. It is the Macro of the function of actually delivering a service at the developer, Help Desk, Support professional level at risk of outsourcing. How we leverage these frameworks to streamline processes and costs associated with providing quality support to clients will offer alternatives to management rather than simply outsourcing under the guise of cost savings.

I hope I’m not going to far off topic but even in the ERP Software Industry IT is becoming more of a service then a department in a company. People are out sourcing their IT staff and it’s even happening for small internal networking. SAAS (Software as a Service) is becoming over popular and many IT Specialists are losing their career. It’s time to looking at a new position inside a software developing company that offers these services.
